This section outlines a few of my goals for the next few years, with a mind to not just where I'm trying to take my practice within the OU - but also the kinds of opportunities I'll be looking for outside the university, and what I think I'll need to get them.
I'd like to be podcasting in a professional capacity. I've been doing personal and professionally aligned podcasting for four years, but have it as part of my day job would be grand. What I have done within my role has been squeezed in at the sides, and having it acknowledged as valuable within my day-to-day would be amazing.

I've got a bee in my bonnet about teaching a person to fish rather than giving them a kebab. One of my priorities for the next few years is to front-load and embed learning design practices in our early work with authors. It's much more efficient in the long term, and will hopefully expand everyone's practice and toolkits.
I'd like to get some more end-to-end instructional design under my belt. Between my practical experience of facilitating learning design, my ability to create media and VLE courses, I feel I've got the ingredients there. While I've built lots of small to medium length induction and training content I'd love to get my hands dirty and design and produce a whole course alongside an SME.
I've had some experience of it, but feel I've still got a lot to learn. In my new role as a Senior Learning Designer I'm hoping to be as good a line manager as those who've previously managed me - and pay their kindness and positive impact forwards.
Connected to APD and Instructional design, I'd like to get a better understanding of (and more experience in) the pedagogy of work-based training. It's something I really enjoy doing, but because it's something I currently pick up on the fringes of my current role I haven't had the opportunity to really dig in to the theory. I get the feeling that's where the opportunities will be in big tech outside of the HE domain.
I've been picking up a few bits of paid work, creating artwork, digital escape room props and voiceovers under my side gig at luduscreative. Over the next few years I'd like to grow this to include a bit of freelance learning and instructional design, and broaden my skillset/offering a bit.
